When we were at the ground zero weekender we had a chance to chat to Yams for a bit and one of the things we yabbed about was radios. Yams showed us his Baofung handset, which is franking awesome as you can just dial your frequency straight into it. It does.work.with PMr 446 radios, although it's difficult to set up.

You can pre programme set frequencies into them for team switching etc.

Technically you do need a.licence.for.them but the times that they will be used are extremely unlikely to attract attention.

druid and I think.they are a good idea and I am toying with buying one. They area available on eBay at £25 ea and they take.a kenwood 2 pin ptt.

Well funnily enuf was planning to start having a chat about them my self , was thinking about sorting it next mth (after payday !) I've indulged in a bit of 'google foo' and it does look like they cood be a root to decent comms and for not a great deal either (for a change) ! I did notice on eBay the more you buy the cheaper they got .
I'm definitely interested but will be next mth for me as I'm still paying last mth off !

Taking a chance and ordering one. Have selected one that comes with usb lend for programming. Should be able to set up on steel wolves frequency as well as havering ability to dial in frequency. And at a 5w output if needed - shove able.to over run anyone on our channel

Right then lads my radio us the uv-5r model or something similar to that. My ptt arrived today and I can confirm that the pin arrangement is most definitely that of a kenwood radio (2 pin)
